Things to do in Nice
As well as being capital of the Côte d’Azur, Nice has a lot of unmissable things to see and do, whether you’re here for a weekend or longer in our hotel. One of these is, of course, the Promenade des Anglais, which brings you to the majestic sea front of the Baie des Anges. Thanks to the “Vélo bleu” (Nice’s bike share system), you can ride by the palaces and luxury boutiques. With the sailing clubs dotted along the beach, you can head out on a nautical trip, while if you’re a thrill-seeker, try parasailing to see the city from another angle, or seek out the wakeboard, jet-ski or banana boat clubs.
Returning to dry land, you can also check out the shopping streets that pass through the city centre. A stone’s throw from the hotel, the Avenue Jean Médecin and the NICETOILE shopping centre are real hot spots, while the Carré d’Or and its plush buildings make it the perfect setting for the more discerning shopper.
From there, you’re in an easy spot to explore Old Nice. Along these narrow streets, you’ll feel the authentic soul of Nice with its red and yellow façades, while you’ll hear the local dialect in the side streets. Upon arrival in the Place Rossetti, stop at the Italian ice cream shop Azzuro. The queue that forms regularly is a testimony to how great its gourmet delights are. After you’ve indulged in a cone of gelato or some socca (thin pancake made from chickpea flour), head towards the hill of the château to enjoy the view and the sunset over the bay. It’s unforgettable.
